What's left behind the scenes

Genndy Tartakovsky came up with the idea for the series while working on the final season of Samurai Jack (2001-2017). Initially, it was intended to be a project more oriented toward a children's audience, and the character Spear was to be a child. However, when Pixar released the film The Good Dinosaur (Peter Sohn, 2015), Tartakovsky put the project on the back burner and decided to finish Samurai Jack first.
