What's left behind the scenes

For the first time in the franchise's history, the main characters belong to different species of turtles: Arrau sliding turtle (Raphael), red-eared slider (Leonardo), softshell turtle (Donatello), and box turtle (Michelangelo).
In this series, the role of the eldest brother and leader belongs to Raphael, while Leonardo is the most restless and hot-tempered. Usually, in the 'TMNT' franchise, everything is depicted exactly the opposite way.
Leonardo almost always wields two medium-sized straight-bladed swords, which are often mistaken for katanas. Here, he uses only one sword—for the first time since the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' series (1997-1998).
