What's left behind the scenes
- Satoru Noda, the author of the original manga and the screenwriter, named the main character after his grandfather, who fought in the Russo-Japanese War as part of the 7th Division of the Imperial Japanese Army. However, Noda claimed that his grandfather did not serve as a prototype for the character.
