What's left behind the scenes
- The series provides a relatively truthful depiction of life in Northern Ireland during the Troubles of the 1990s. It also contains several references to the culture of the Republic that are important for the Roman Catholic characters and Ireland as a whole. Additionally, there are some coded references to specific gags that will be immediately apparent only to Irish viewers of a certain age.
- The main characters are at least 16 years old, although the actors who played them were around 25 at the time of filming. The actress who played Claire was already 30 when filming began.
- The school depicted in the series is based on Thornhill College, where the show's author, Lisa McGeachie, studied.
- Hunterhouse College, an all-girls school located in Belfast, served as the school.
