What's left behind the scenes

  • According to Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett's final request to him was a wish for him to adapt the book for the screen. All previous attempts at adaptation failed due to the impossibility of finding a screenwriter capable of adapting the work for the screen while preserving its spirit and humor.
  • The series primarily features music by the band Queen. In the original literary source, it is mentioned several times that any audio cassettes left in Crowley's car for a couple of weeks magically transform into a 'Best of Queen' collection.
  • The role of Agnes Psych was played by Josie Lawrence. She also provided the voice for Agnes Psych in the 2014 radio adaptation of 'Good Omens'.
  • Over the course of 10 years, Terry Gilliam made several attempts to adapt 'Good Omens' for the screen, but all proved unsuccessful. He came closest in January 2002, when the cast for the future project included Robin Williams (1951-2014, who was intended to play Aziraphale) and Johnny Depp (who was cast as Crowley). Gilliam had already secured $50 million from investors; all that remained was to find a small additional sum and a studio. The director was completely disheartened because, according to him, everyone in Hollywood at the time claimed that 'the public wouldn't go to a movie with Depp.' This occurred before the filming of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'.
  • The license plate of the car belonging to Adam's father, Mr. Young, reads '510RAT', which reads as 'TARDIS' from right to left. This is a reference to the series 'Doctor Who', which featured many of the actors from 'Good Omens', most notably David Tennant in the lead role.
  • Terry Pratchett included humorous footnotes in his works, and Neil Gaiman sought to incorporate them into the series as 'easter eggs'. An example of this is the table tennis set that belonged to the Chatterton Order of Saint Beryl.
