Short description

The coastal town of Bristol Cove is known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.

What's left behind the scenes

The series' musical theme, titled "Siren's Call," was performed by actress Elaine Powell, who played Rin, at Comic-Con in San Diego in 2018, leading many fans to believe that she performed it in the series as well. In reality, both the theme and the mermaid sound effects were performed by Marianna Berretto, whose voice was processed through electronic filters while she was also voicing Donna.
The opening shots of several episodes at the beginning of the series show images of the coast, a crimson sun, and smoke obscuring the sky. This was evidently filmed in July-August 2017, when the sky was filled with smoke from wildfires.
The sea lions shown in the series are animals from the University of British Columbia located at a water park in the city of Vancouver.
As Rin, actress Elaine Powell embodies characteristics of both marine and terrestrial mammals. In her portrayal of Rin, she also incorporated certain traits of the singer Björk.
Elaine Powell played one of three sirens in Guy Ritchie's adventure film 'King Arthur: Legend of the Sword' (2017).
