What's left behind the scenes
- In June 2015, Jimmy Fallon tripped over a woven rug in his own kitchen, fell, and seriously injured a finger. The showman had to undergo surgery, after which he hosted the show with a bandaged hand for some time. In October of the same year, Fallon tripped again, this time at Harvard. He began the next episode of the program with the words, 'Your host is the bow-legged Fallon'.
- When Jimmy Fallon became the host of the show, succeeding Jay Leno, filming moved from Los Angeles to New York. The premiere of the show with the new host took place on February 17, 2014.
- When there are not enough guests in the studio to play, members of the hip-hop and rap group The Roots step in to fill their roles.
