Short description
Lassie is the pet of Jeff Miller, an 11-year-old farm boy. The two become best friends and enjoy family adventures in the American countryside, teaching each other about love, nature and commitment.

What's left behind the scenes
- Lassie was so popular that she became one of only three fictional dogs to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition to her, the fictional dog characters Rin Tin Tin and Strongheart, as well as Mickey Mouse, were also awarded stars.
- All nine Lassies were male, despite playing female roles (Lassie is a girl's name in English/Scottish). A female collie sheds her coat at least once a year. As a result, she cannot act year-round. Additionally, male collies are larger and more hardy, allowing a child actor to work with the dog for longer periods.
