What's left behind the scenes
- Actress Jen Taylor, who voiced Cortana and Dr. Halsey in the games, initially had no intention of participating in this adaptation; however, due to pandemic-related gaps in her work schedule, it turned out that she could, in principle, play Cortana. An audition was arranged via Zoom, but during the process, the screenwriter, director, and executive producer paid almost no attention to Taylor, spending nearly the entire time texting. At the end of the audition, the director said, 'Alright, I liked it. See you in Budapest,' and it didn't even immediately click for Taylor that she had been cast as Cortana.
- This is not the first attempt to bring the 2001 game 'Halo: Combat Evolved' to the screen. In 2005, Fox and Universal Pictures already tried to join forces to create an adaptation, which would have been directed by Neill Blomkamp, written by Alex Garland, and executive produced by Peter Jackson. Microsoft, as the copyright holder, imposed numerous creative and financial demands on the project, specifically insisting on strict adherence to the game's plot. As project costs continued to climb, Fox began threatening to withdraw from the partnership, and Universal Pictures approached Jackson and Blomkamp with a proposal to change their contract terms, which they refused. Ten million dollars had already been spent on the project by the time the decision was made to shelf it. In 2018, Paramount Pictures gave the green light for a television series, but without the involvement of Blomkamp, Jackson, and Garland.
- As part of the preparation for filming, actors Pablo Schreiber, Natasha Culzáková, Bentley Calm, and Kate Kennedy spent a week at a boot camp in Budapest. There, they studied platoon tactics, military etiquette, military equipment and weaponry, practiced field operations, underwent physical training and patrolling, and learned how to behave under enemy fire.
- The series screenwriters and actors spent five days conducting a detailed study of all information regarding the Halo game series, including its mythology, history, and more.
- According to Pablo Schreiber, his protective armor weighed over 20 kg, while Bentley Calm's armor weighed approximately 30 kg.
- All weapons in the series were created to the exact dimensions depicted in the games. The only exception was the sniper rifle used by Kate Kennedy's character. According to Kennedy, her rifle was exactly her height—195 centimeters.
- In 2024, after airing two seasons, Paramount+ canceled further production of the series. According to rumors, Microsoft and 343 Industries, involved in the creation of the Halo game series, as well as the production company Amblin Television, considered the possibility of releasing a continuation.
