What's left behind the scenes

This version of the famous Marvel Comics superhero was part of a deal between Marvel and Toei Studio—four years of free adaptation of the publisher's characters to suit the needs and desires of the Japanese screen.
The producers intended to leave Spider-Man's abilities unchanged (web-slinging), but one of the series' sponsors demanded the inclusion of a giant robot, which were fashionable in Japanese cinema at the time. The producers were forced to comply.
