What's left behind the scenes
- The series is based on a true story.
- Before casting actress Vritika Gupta in the role of Rina, over 700 candidates across America were auditioned.
- Rebecca Godfrey, played by Riley Keough, provided writer and showrunner Quinn Shepherd with her own notebooks containing case information, as well as diaries she kept during that period of her life. All of this helped Keough better portray Godfrey on screen.
- Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone were cast in their respective roles by the series' producer and writer, Rebecca Godfrey. This took place shortly before her death from cancer in 2022.
- Riley Keough, who played Rebecca Godfrey, studied her character through videos of Godfrey and her own diaries. Godfrey passed away before she could meet Keough in person.
