What's left behind the scenes

The project's name, Vox Machina, is a reference to the fact that voice actors are involved. From Latin, the name translates as "voice of the machine."
The actors involved in the animated series turned to Kickstarter to raise $750,000 over 45 days, the amount needed to create the first 30 minutes of the show. Major firms and foundations found the project insufficiently attractive, but 88,887 private sponsors donated a total of $11,385,449 to the project.
