In the Brazilian state of Bahia (specifically in the state capital, Salvador), there is a church where tourists are offered colored ribbons. According to the custom, the ribbon must be wrapped around the wrist and tied with three knots, with a wish made while tying each knot. After this, the ribbon must be worn without being removed until the material wears out from age and the ribbon falls off the wrist on its own, which signifies that the wish has been granted.
