Short description

Smiling Friends Inc. is a small company whose main purpose is to bring happiness and make people smile. The series follows the day-to-day lives and misadventures of its representatives, the lazy, cynical Charlie, and the cheerful, optimistic Pim, as they try to cheer up and comfort the troubled people who call their company's hotline. They receive seemingly simple requests but the jobs turn out to be more complicated than they seem, making it difficult to bring happiness to the world.

What's left behind the scenes

According to directors and writers Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack, Glep is shown with his wife in several episodes. Her name is Marge Simpson. She has never seen the animated series "The Simpsons" and therefore cannot stand it when people start talking to her about it.
Initially, the series creators planned to use the Comic Sans font in the credits (which belongs to the humanist sans-serif category—fonts without serifs that mimic handwriting), but they were unable to obtain permission from its authors.
It was originally intended that Pim would die and go to hell in the season finale, but it was ultimately decided to use this plot device to write off Charlie, the lazy character who was indifferent to everything.
