What's left behind the scenes
- At the beginning of the first episode, the character played by Imogen Benson delivers a speech, part of which is borrowed from the letter written by Anthony Michael Hall's character at the end of the film 'The Breakfast Club'.
- Screenwriter Christopher Pike drew inspiration from real life. In 1993, a girl with cancer asked him to write a story about her and the other children in her ward, who spent their nights discussing the books they had read. Pike gave the main character a Polish name in honor of that girl.
