What's left behind the scenes
- The series was filmed in a men's prison in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. The last prisoners were moved out in February 2013, after which the buildings were opened to visitors, and those interested could even spend the night there.
- Jimmy McGovern wrote the script with Sean Bean and Stephen Graham in mind, who played Mark Cobden and Eric McNally, respectively.
