What's left behind the scenes
- Preparing for the role of the lawyer, Peter Sarsgaard traveled to Dayton, Ohio, where he went on ride-alongs with police officers, hung out with opioid users, spoke with their family members, and even visited detention centers where users attempted to overcome their addictions. All of this helped the actor immerse himself in the character and taught him empathy and understanding.
