What's left behind the scenes

Shortly after the publication of Sherry Fink's book (who became one of the project's screenwriters), Scott Rudin acquired the film rights in 2013. It is claimed that the rights expired by 2017. Rudin was offered the chance to adapt the novel for television as the third season of the series "American Crime Story," with Sarah Paulson playing the role that Vera Farmiga played in the series "John Ridley, Wendy Stanzler and Carlton Cuez," but the adaptation never happened, and in 2019, Rudin renewed his efforts to place the novel somewhere.
