What's left behind the scenes

The 'Russian Samovar' restaurant, where Petrovsky took Carrie on their first date, actually exists and is owned by Mikhail Baryshnikov, who played Alexander.
Before the September 11 terrorist attacks, Sarah Jessica Parker's name (as well as the show's title) appeared in the opening credits against the backdrop of the World Trade Center towers. After the 12th episode of the 4th season, the towers were replaced by the Empire State Building.
The series is based on the novel 'Sex and the City' (1997) by Candace Bushnell.
In Season 4, Episode 16, Carrie asks a shoe store clerk for a size 38 to try on; however, in Season 6, Episode 9, while having breakfast, she tells her friends that she wears a size 36.
