Dan Black is a video editor and artist. He attended the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, receiving his B.A. in 2016, and his M.F.A. in Cinematic Arts in 2022. Dan operates within non-fiction forms, both personal and public. He frequently mixes appropriated images with his own, blurring the lines of authorship and challenging the hierarchy of images. Utilizing the endless ephemera our society generates, Dan’s videos mimic and elucidate the contradictions of our material world. The videos are often direct responses to Dan’s immediate environment and attempts to exorcize the locations of their hidden meanings. His videos have screened in the United States and internationally. He currently resides in Chicago, Illinois and teaches at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
