Short description
In modern-day Helsinki, two lonely souls in search of love meet by chance in a karaoke bar. However, their path to happiness is beset by obstacles – from lost phone numbers to mistaken addresses, alcoholism, and a charming stray dog.
What's left behind the scenes
- Actress Alma Pöysti, who played the lead role, said in an interview that the dog belonging to her character actually belonged to director Aki Kaurismäki, and that the dog's name was also Alma. The actress praised the dog's behavior in the scenes.
- The characters of Alma Pöysti and Jussi Vatanen are watching Jim Jarmusch's film "The Dead Don't Die" (2019) in a cinema. According to Jarmusch, he was greatly impressed by Kaurismäki's 1989 musical comedy "Leningrad Cowboys Go America." Part of the plot of Jarmusch's own comedy "Night on Earth" (1991) unfolds in Finland, and in this film Jarmusch directed actors with whom Kaurismäki regularly works.
- The scene in which Alma Pöysti and Nuppu Koivu drink colorful cocktails takes place in a bar called "Buenos Aires" (as indicated by the sign shown at the beginning of the scene). Such a bar actually exists, and its owner is Aki Kaurismäki.
