Short description
Three tales of love, ambition, and neurosis unfold in the city that never sleeps. In "Life Lessons" (Martin Scorsese), a tormented painter channels heartbreak into his art. In "Life Without Zoë" (Francis Ford Coppola), a precocious 12-year-old navigates privilege and loneliness in a Manhattan hotel. And in "Oedipus Wrecks" (Woody Allen), a man’s domineering mother literally becomes a looming presence over New York.

- Jessie Keosian (1905-1994), who appeared in Woody Allen's short film "Oedipus Wreck" (also translated as "The Death of Oedipus", "New Oedipus", or "Mommy Dearest"), once taught biology at the school Allen attended. They hadn't seen each other since his graduation until the casting.
- Initially, Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg were slated to direct the short films, but at some point, Francis Ford Coppola replaced Spielberg.
