Short description
World War II vet Paul Sutton falls for a pregnant and unwed woman who persuades him -- during their first encounter -- to pose as her husband so she can face her family.

- Debra Messing's film debut.
- The two top medals on the hero's uniform worn by Keanu Reeves are the "Bronze Star" with a V device cluster (from valor – bravery, an award for heroism in combat) and the "Purple Heart" (awarded to all service members killed or wounded in action against the enemy).
- Once, during his free time, Keanu Reeves went with friends to play hockey and sustained an injury. He had a torn lip and required six stitches. According to the schedule, the next scene slated for filming was a love scene with Debra Messing's character, to whom he said the following: "Just please don't hurt me."
- The screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen, owns a vineyard. When he needed to add drama to the third act, Kamen asked himself what could harm his vineyard the most, and answered himself: “Fire.” Several people told him that vineyards don’t burn well, but less than a year after the film’s release, Kamen’s vineyard actually burned down.
