Short description
In this adaptation of the best-selling roman à clef about Bill Clinton's 1992 run for the White House, the young and gifted Henry Burton is tapped to oversee the presidential campaign of Governor Jack Stanton. Burton is pulled into the politician's colorful world and looks on as Stanton -- who has a wandering eye that could be his downfall -- contends with his ambitious wife, Susan, and an outspoken adviser, Richard Jemmons.
What's left behind the scenes
- The 42nd President of the United States (1993-2001), Bill Clinton, liked the film so much that he even invited the lead actor John Travolta to a reception, but on the condition that he come dressed as Governor Jack Stanton, the character he played in the film. The actor declined.
- The extras in the crowd at the political rally were not aware in advance that Larry Hagman (1931-2012) would appear at the rally, so the public's reaction to his appearance was entirely genuine. Unfortunately, at that time Hagman was recovering from a broken rib, which caused him some pain, and he couldn't fully enjoy the moment.
- John Travolta gained 13.5 kilograms for the role.
