Short description

A young surfer enters his first contest, hoping a win will earn him respect. But an encounter with a laid-back local forces him to rethink his values.

What's left behind the scenes

Motion capture equipment was installed on an old Sony video camera to create the impression for the viewer that the film was shot with a real handheld camera, and to add more realism to its atmosphere.
The Big Z tournament on Pin-Gu Island featured true surfing stars – Renato Mendes from Brazil, Rory Nabbs from Australia, and Tatsuhiko Kobayashi from Japan.
Some voice actors got carried away during work. James Woods, for example, threw objects at the filmmakers that were at hand when his character did the same.
