Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Zoey Deutch and Kendrick Sampson (who played Rachel and Ethan, respectively) met and had their initial auditions via the Zoom video conferencing program.
According to costume designer Alana Morshead, the style of the main character, played by Zoey Deutch, was inspired by the looks of characters from Rob Reiner's comedy 'When Harry Met Sally...' (1989) and Woody Allen's drama 'Annie Hall' (1977).
