Short description

A Catholic school newcomer falls in with a clique of teen witches who wield their powers against all who dare to cross them -- be they teachers, rivals or meddlesome parents.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming took place in the state of California, in the cities of Culver City, Los Angeles and its suburbs of Long Beach and Malibu.
  • Over 3000 snakes of various species were brought in for filming: boas, pythons, water snakes, a 3-meter Amazonian constrictor, and even very rare albino snakes. Parrots, lizards, 50 rats, numerous tarantulas, 50 Monarch butterflies, 2000 birds, 3000 larvae, 10,000 German and Madagascar cockroaches, 15,000 mealworms, and 20,000 flies were also used in the filming.
  • Actress Robin Tunney wore a wig during filming, as she was simultaneously filming another movie, "Empire Records" (1995), and was forced to shave her head constantly.
  • The film does not mention the name of the Catholic school the girls attended, but the trailer shows it was the St. Bernard Academy.
  • At the 11-minute mark of the film, a cover version of the song "How Soon Is Now?" (The Smiths) performed by Love Spit Love plays, which later became the main theme of the series "Charmed" (1998-2006).
