Short description

The adventures of married couple Henry and Nancy Clark, vexed by misfortune while in New York City for Henry's job interview.

What's left behind the scenes

  • As a rule, Neil Simon (1927-2018) wrote plays that he then adapted into screenplays. In this case, he wrote directly with a film adaptation in mind, understanding that a stage production would be difficult to realize due to the large number of locations.
  • The house featured in the film also appeared in Charles Shyer’s comedies “Father of the Bride” (1991) and “Father of the Bride Part II” (1995), which also starred Steve Martin.
  • This is the second film based on a screenplay by Neil Simon starring Steve Martin. The first was Arthur Hiller’s (1923-2016) comedy “Lonely Guy” (1984).
