Short description

After discovering that his father is at death's door, Mr. Miyagi sets out to Japan, to see him with Daniel. Upon arriving, Miyagi must confront an old rival. Meanwhile, Daniel encounters a new love, and some new enemies.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Upon completion of filming for the first movie in the franchise (John G. Avildsen, 1984), Elizabeth Shue returned to her studies at Harvard, and her involvement in the franchise came to an end. It was originally planned to give her a very short cameo, but this idea was abandoned. Ralph Macchio's character once mentions Ellie in a conversation with a character played by Pat Morita (1932-2005), but that is where her presence in the film ends.
