Short description

Coffee And Cigarettes is a collection of eleven films from cult director Jim Jarmusch. Each film hosts star studded cast of extremely unique individuals who all share the common activities of conversing while drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Jim Jarmusch worked on the film “Coffee and Cigarettes” for seventeen years, from 1986 to 2003.
  • Iggy Pop and Tom Waits, who had quit smoking shortly before filming, both relapsed after the shoot. Upon learning this, Jim Jarmusch warned other actors that if they didn’t smoke, he would rewrite their roles so they wouldn’t have to appear on camera with a cigarette.
  • The tables in the film (excluding the Twins and Cousins segments) have a surface or tablecloth featuring an alternating pattern of dark and light squares, like a chessboard.
  • RZA wears a hat with the emblem of Jarmusch's film "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai," for which he composed the soundtrack.
