After losing her job, a single mom falls into a lucrative but ultimately dangerous scheme selling prescription drugs.

What's left behind the scenes

All characters and drug names in the film are fictional. The company was actually called Insys Therapeutics, and the drug was Subsys. The company's founder (played by Andy Garcia) was John Kapoor. The truth about what happened was told by Maria Guzman, played by Emily Blunt. There were several informants, and they filed lawsuits against the company. Some Insys Therapeutics employees were convicted of racketeering, and many doctors served time for participating in fraudulent drug prescription schemes. Subsys is still on the market, now owned by BTcP Pharma.
