Short description
A sorcerer and his apprentice are on a mission to kill an evil dragon to save the King’s daughter from being sacrificed according to a pact that the King himself made with the dragon to protect his kingdom.
What's left behind the scenes
- This is the first feature film to use a variation of stop-motion animation where the model (in this case, a dragon) is mechanical, and its movements are controlled by a computer. This approach made the dragon look realistic.
- Two army flamethrowers were used to create the dragon's flames.
- Peter Mcnicol's debut role.
- A total of 16 dragon puppets were used (including a 12-meter model), each capable of flying, crawling, and breathing fire.
- Filming took place in Wales, with the exception of the final scene, which was shot in Scotland.
- Local residents were used as extras.
