Short description
Police Inspector Renko tries to solve the case of three bodies found in Moscow's Gorky Park but finds his attempts to solve the crime impeded by his superiors. Working on his own, Renko seeks out more information and stumbles across a conspiracy involving the highest levels of the government.
What's left behind the scenes
- When Lee Marvin (1924-1987) arrived on set in Helsinki, he had to be taken straight to the hospital due to a chronic illness caused by excessive alcohol consumption. The film's director, Michael Apted (1941-2021), ordered rehearsals to begin while Marvin was still in the hospital.
- A KGB agent is taking the heads of the deceased out of the morgue in a black Volga. This Volga is an export model – the badge 'Volga' is prominently displayed on the front fender.
- The Gorky Park shown in the film was not filmed on location in Moscow. One of Helsinki's parks, the capital of Finland – Kaisaniemi Park – stood in for Gorky Park.
- The luxurious baths shown in the film are actually a wellness center in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. At the time of filming, it was owned by members of the Swedish group ABBA.
