Short description

Surfer Jay Moriarity sets out to ride the Northern California break known as Mavericks.

Michael Apted took over directing for the last three weeks of principal photography due to Curtis Hanson's health issues.
An international online casting was conducted to find an actor for the role of Jay Moriarty.
Six Red Epic cameras were lost during surfing footage shooting at Mavericks.
During filming, Gerard Butler performed almost all the stunts himself, resulting in injuries and hospitalization.
