Short description

Haunted by her past, a nurse travels from England to a remote Irish village in 1862 to investigate a young girl's supposedly miraculous fast.

What's left behind the scenes

The O'Donnell house features a post-mortem photograph. These were very popular in the second half of the 19th century. Photography was an expensive luxury in that era, and photographers were usually only invited for weddings to photograph the newlyweds. When a person died, the remaining family members would take a post-mortem photo with them.
Anna and Liv (played by Kila Lord Cassidy and Florence Pugh, respectively) discuss Catherine of Siena (1347-1380), who practiced fervent fasting, which some believe contributed to her early death. Catherine of Siena is the patron saint of those who are mocked for their faith, as well as all nurses.
