Short description

Animal pals Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria are still trying to make it back to New York's Central Park Zoo. They are forced to take a detour to Europe to find the penguins and chimps who broke the bank at a Monte Carlo casino. When French animal-control officer Capitaine Chantel DuBois picks up their scent, Alex and company are forced to hide out in a traveling circus.

What's left behind the scenes

  • When King Julien wants to turn off the lights early, the switch is in the upper position (the light will turn off when he lowers it). Minutes later, when an inexplicable situation with the lights occurs, Mort is at the switch, but the positions for on/off have been reversed (the light will turn off when he raises it).
  • Captain Chantel Dubois sings “Non, je ne regrette rien” to her henchmen for a minute. This is a French song that became famous after being recorded by Édith Piaf in 1960. Piaf dedicated the recording of this song to the French Foreign Legion volunteers, who still sing it at parades. Based on the men's reaction to the song, it is suggested that they all serve or have served in this unit.
  • The ship's name in the final scenes of the film is “Mal De Mer,” which translates from French as “seasickness.”

  • When Captain Chantel Dubois prints information from her search, a voiceover character states they can hear a laser printer starting up. A inkjet printer is shown, but the sound used for it is taken from a dot matrix printer.
