Short description

A husband and wife struggle to keep their marriage alive until they realize they are both secretly working as assassins. Now, their respective assignments require them to kill each other.

What's left behind the scenes

Brad Pitt left the project after Nicole Kidman withdrew. However, as soon as Angelina Jolie agreed to the role, the actor reaffirmed his participation.
At the height of filming, Pitt left the project for 3 months to star in "Ocean's Twelve" (2004).
Filming took place in San Marino, California.
The film contains elements of the series "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (1996) and Alfred Hitchcock's eccentric comedy "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (1941).
The series was cancelled after the release of the pilot episode.
In order to obtain an acceptable rating for a film of this kind (PG-13), the filmmakers had to cut a bedroom scene between the characters of Pitt and Jolie.
One of Mr. Smith's victims – Benjamin – prominently wears a t-shirt with the title of the film "Fight Club" (1999) at the beginning of the film, in which Brad Pitt played one of the main roles.
Nicole Kidman was the first choice for the role of Mrs. Smith. In turn, the role of Mr. Smith was initially intended for Johnny Depp, but the actor was so busy with other projects that he preferred to decline the offer. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Cate Blanchett were also considered for the role of Mrs. Smith, and Will Smith could have played Mr. Smith.
