Short description

After a fictitious marriage with a Russian emigrant, Cellisten Louka, a Czech man, must suddenly take responsibility for her son. However, it’s not long before the communication barrier is broken between the two new family members.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The filmmakers doubted the film's success: they believed a story about a Russian boy wouldn't be appealing to audiences, as the Eastern Bloc had recently collapsed and Czechoslovakia had freed itself from Soviet influence.
  • The scenes in the subway were filmed at the Anděl station, which was called “Moskovskaya” (Moscow) during the years of socialism. It still features a panorama of the city of Moscow and communist symbolism.
