Simon Pegg is the only member of the original cast to continue voicing his character.
This is the first installment in the franchise to not feature Scrat, and in which Chris Wedge, the creator of the franchise, original director, and 'voice' of Scrat, did not participate. In 2020, Disney temporarily lost the rights to this character. Once the rights issue was resolved, a new mini-series titled 'Ice Age: Scrat Tales' (2022) was soon announced.
Initially, it was planned as a series for Disney+, but then the decision was made to create a full-length animated film.
