Short description

Reclusive author Loretta Sage writes about exotic places in her popular adventure novels that feature a handsome cover model named Alan. While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to the ancient city's lost treasure that featured in her latest story. Alan, determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, sets off to rescue her.

What's left behind the scenes

The scene with the chair and wheelbarrow was filmed in one take.
The film is a kind of remake of Robert Zemeckis's adventure comedy 'Romancing the Stone' (1984), and the name of the book tour – 'Romancing the Pages' – was a reference to that film.
The characters' tiny vehicle is not a car at all, but a quadricycle with a closed body and an engine displacement of 217 cubic centimeters. It's called the Bajaj Qute and is produced by the Indian company Bajaj Auto. Its maximum speed is 70 km/h.
Channing Tatum (who played Alan and Dash) later recounted that the scene with nudity, where Sandra Bullock's character peels leeches off him, was filmed on the second day of shooting. Tatum and Bullock barely knew each other at the time. The scene was probably shot after 50 takes because Tatum couldn't deliver his lines without bursting into laughter.
Brad Pitt (who played Jack) and Sandra Bullock (who played Loretta) have both been in the film industry for over 30 years, but they had never starred in a film together before. Bullock only made a cameo appearance in David Leitch’s action comedy "Bullet Train" (2022), starring Pitt, after which she befriended Pitt, and he eventually accepted an invitation to join the cast of the adventure comedy directed by Aaron and Adam Nee.
