Short description
Derek Vineyard is paroled after serving 3 years in prison for killing two African-American men. Through his brother, Danny Vineyard's narration, we learn that before going to prison, Derek was a skinhead and the leader of a violent white supremacist gang that committed acts of racial crime throughout L.A. and his actions greatly influenced Danny. Reformed and fresh out of prison, Derek severs contact with the gang and becomes determined to keep Danny from going down the same violent path as he did.

- During a basketball game, Seth is wearing a jersey with the number 88. This is a skinhead code for "NN" or "Heil Hitler": "N" is the eighth letter of the Latin alphabet. 88 is also a reference to the 88 principles formulated by neo-Nazi leader David Lane.
- Specifically for this role, Edward Norton gained 30 pounds (approximately 13.6 kilograms) of muscle mass.
- The word "fuck" is uttered 205 times throughout the film.
