Short description
Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.
What's left behind the scenes
- The first film in the series not directed by Wes Craven. Wes’s character (Dylan Minnette) is named after him.
- When Tara answers the call from Ghostface, the killer says his name is Charlie and that he’s her mother's friend. In "Scream 4," Charlie is one of the killers.
- David Arquette taught several members of the film crew the painting technique of artist Bob Ross during breaks in filming.
- Initially, Neve Campbell did not want to return to the franchise after the death of the previous films' director, Wes Craven. A personal letter from the film's directors, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, which detailed how much Craven and his work had done for their development as directors, made her reconsider.
- According to the actors, the producers did everything possible to prevent leaks regarding how the film would end (even the actors themselves didn't know).
- The first film in the franchise where none of the killers have personal motives against Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell).
