- On Buddy 3000's eyelids, one can read 'Ilya 260'. Ilya is the name of director David E. Talbert's son.
- When Forest Whitaker's character opens the trunk, a sticker for The Grand Wakanda Country is visible on the trunk. Wakanda is a fictional country that is the homeland of the Black Panther comic book character. Whitaker played Zuri in Ryan Coogler's superhero film 'Black Panther' (2018).
- The snowball fight scene was filmed in the Elm Hill area of Norwich in East Anglia. Over 80 local residents were involved as extras.
- All the shops in the city are named after inventors from Africa.
