Short description

A British college student falls for an American student, only to be separated from him when she's banned from the U.S. after overstaying her visa.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was shot on a Canon 7D camera.
  • Before submitting the film to the Sundance Film Festival, director Drake Doremus showed a rough cut to his former students from Orange County High School of the Arts.
  • At the Toronto Film Festival, the director admitted that much of the film was improvised. The plot only provided a general direction, determining which events should occur, but in most scenes, Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin improvised their dialogue.
  • While searching for inspiration, screenwriters Drake Doremus and Ben York Jones reminisced about their early romances from their youth.
