Short description

Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people.

Raya is the third Disney princess after Merida and Moana whose image is completely original and not based on existing fairy tales and legends. Unlike films about other Disney princesses, these three cases do not feature a romantic subplot.
The land of Kumandra combines features of Southeast Asian countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Laos.
In Indonesian, 'raya' means great. In Malay, the word means hibiscus, which is the national flower of Malaysia.
Raya's dual-stick fighting style is based on the Filipino martial art of Pekiti-Tirsia Kali.
The plot required the protagonist to have some form of transportation, and thus Tuk-Tuk was invented. This is a hybrid animal capable of curling into a ball and riding under a saddle. In Thailand, this is what a vehicle in large cities like Bangkok is called.
