Short description
An ordinary working class boy, like all his peers, he played football day and night and dreamed of being a striker. But no matter which team he played for - in the yard, at the factory, or in the army - he was inevitably put in goal.
What's left behind the scenes
- Igor Petrenko, Evgeny Tsyganov, and Grigory Dobrygin were all considered for the role of Lev Yashin.
- In the 105th minute, during the farewell match, the family of Yashin is shown in the stands in a mirror image: from left to right – his daughters and wife, although before and after they are seated in a different order.
- The film's consultants included Vasily Frolov, a goalkeeper and grandson of Lev Ivanovich Yashin, Anton Shunin, a Russian footballer, goalkeeper and captain of Moscow Dynamo, and Vladimir Pilguy, a Soviet footballer, goalkeeper, successor to Lev Yashin, and a player for the USSR national team and Moscow Dynamo club.
- Work on the film took four years. Most of that time was spent in pre-production: Valentina Yashina, the goalkeeper's widow, reviewed script variations that were rewritten to ensure historical accuracy and preserve important details of the goalkeeper's biography.
