Short description
For a long time, Natalie, an Australian architect living in New York City, had always believed that what she had seen in rom-coms is all fantasy. But after thwarting a mugger at a subway station only to be knocked out while fleeing, Natalie wakes up and discovers that her life has suddenly become her worst nightmare—a romantic comedy—and she is the leading lady.

- Director Todd Strauss-Schulson rewatched over 90 American romantic comedies in 2 weeks and noted the most common clichés: New York, Starbucks coffee, a kiss in the rain, arched windows, and a jacuzzi.
- In the scene near the police station, the building where the series "Friends" (1994-2004) was filmed can be seen in the background.
- Preliminary screenings showed that focus groups really enjoyed the musical numbers, so director Todd Strauss-Schulson decided to film a complex musical number with dancing for the entire cast for the film's finale.
- The film contains over 120 references to romantic comedies – from costumes and musical themes to dialogue.
