What's left behind the scenes
- The film is dedicated to the memory of producer Simon Channing-Williams (1945-2009). He and the film's director, Mike Leigh, were friends and collaborators for many years.
- Filming took 12 weeks.
- To show different seasons, cinematographer Dick Pope filmed using various types of film stock. Great attention was paid to the details of the props to show the passage of time.
