Short description
When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film was initially going to receive an NC-17 rating – mainly due to the childbirth scene. The filmmakers submitted it for rating four times, and each time the childbirth scene was present, but the rating agency relented only when a 13-second portion of the scene was cut, and the film received an R rating.
