Short description
Maggie is an alluring free spirit who won't let anyone – or anything – tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie, whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serves him well with the ladies and the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie's evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love.
What's left behind the scenes
- At one point during filming, director Edward Zwick stripped down and climbed into bed with Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal for a group shot, hoping this would stop them from feeling shy and help them relax. Zwick was later digitally removed from the frame, and the shot was used to create the film's poster.
- The film is based on Jamie Reidy's popular science autobiographical book "Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman" (2005), a true story about the blue pill that the world knows, the people who sell arousal, and the secrets of the pharmaceutical business.
- While preparing for the shoot, Jake Gyllenhaal spent a considerable amount of time with Jamie Reid, the author of the book the film is based on, while Anne Hathaway spent time with Lucy Russis, an actress with Parkinson's disease.
